National Chess Day 2020 Tournament Report

Twenty-two players came out to celebrate National Chess Day at a tournament played on October 10, 2020 at the Creative Arts Center in Brewer. The tournament offered two quads and an U1000 section. Here's the report with US Chess Crosstables.

Jessica Lauser Repeats as US Blind Champion

Three players traveled to Manchester, New Hampshire, to participate in the 2020 US Blind Chess Championship held over the board on October 24-25. Jessica Lauser won the tournament and repeats as US Blind Champion. Maine Chess Association president Michael Dudley was onsite and has submitted this report.

Dinnerstein Siblings Represent Maine at National Scholastic Tournaments

October 27, 2020

The sibling duo Isaac and Zoe Dinnerstein represented Maine at two national scholastic tournaments played this summer. Isaac, Maine's 2020 High School Champion, was invited to the 36th Annual Denker National Tournament of High School State Champions and Zoe, Maine's 2020 Girls Runner-Up Champion, participated in the 8th Annual Haring National Tournament of Girls State Champions. Both tournaments were held online in July.

Jarod Bryan and Wyatt Hendrix Win 2020 Maine Championship

Jarod Bryan and Wyatt Hendrix are the 2020 Maine State Chess Champions. Jarod Bryan claimed a share of the championship with 4.0/5. With this championship win, Jarod achieved the feat of a Maine Championship in each of the last five decades (1980s, 90s, 2000s, 10s, and 20s). Wyatt Hendrix also earned 4.0/5 to repeat as a co-champion. Congratulations to both of our Maine champions! Here is the illustrated tournament report with images and US Chess crosstables.
