09.02.09 Summer Camp 2009 at Featherfoot Farm had great weather, great activities and great friends! Seventeen campers braved early morning swims, participated in chores and activities, made lots of new friends and learned the daily operations of an organic family farm.
The camp featured lots of interesting (as well as fun) activities including: a goat demonstration by Ken and Nona Silsby during which campers got a chance to milk a goat, play with goat kids and sample some delicious goat milk cheeses and fudge, a talk on sustainable living and the importance of spaying and neutering pets, a farrier (horseshoer) demonstration by David Hodgkins and a concert by professional musicians Gabe Zacchai and Celena Rye. In addition to these formal presentations campers enjoyed horsebackriding, swimming, kayaking, sailing, archery, a talent show, blueberry picking and jam making, gardening, animal husbandry, horseshoes, farm chores, arts and crafts including individual photo journals, homemade foods from the farm and so much more.
We hope to continue what we started with another camp in 2010!
Thanks to all staff, parents and campers for making our first summer camp a great experience for all!
